We are very pleased to announce that our first annual ‘Tootsie Roll Drive’ was a huge success this year thanks to the many volunteers who helped out and the generosity of donors.
One of the most popular and successful programs conducted by Knights of Columbus state and local councils for the benefit of people with intellectual disabilities is the fund-raiser in which councils collect donations outside stores throughout the community.
The St. Anne Knights of Columbus, Council #16720, held our first annual Tootsie Roll Drive this past September 16 and 17. Volunteers were located in front of the Jewel Osco on 2540 US-30 & Douglas, Jewel Osco on 3795 Orchard Rd., Marcley’s Mini Mart in Oswego, and Riverview Restaurant in Montgomery.
All the donations go to various charity organizations that help people with Intellectual Disabilities, including the St. Anne SPICE program. The event netted over $1,700.
On behalf of Brothers Danny Gutierrez (Co-Chair), Frank Gonzales (Co-Chair), myself and Council 16720, we wish to extend a special thanks to those of you who volunteered your time and effort, those who worked double and even triple shifts, those who took the Tootsie Roll Drive to their workplace, those who stepped up unexpectedly to help out, and those “Knights in training” who accompanied their dads to help make a difference for the developmentally disabled throughout our state.
God Bless you all.
